In the late afternoon, a slim slice of light would splash on the carpet through the window. My cat would camp out in that thin, but prime real estate, eyes shut, oh so comfy. Sometimes I would join. Ah, that sunlight; peaking through the window, stretching across the ground at dawn, poking through a gray sky after the storm, keeping us warm.
